I had the distinct honor of attending International Ms Leather 2010 this past weekend as a judge for the International Ms Bootblack contest. As you know by now, Mollena Williams earned the International Ms Leather 2010 title. I was fortunate enough to record her fantasy number. I found it to be amazing, well executed and thought provoking…you know, typical Mollena. I think art should inspire discussion, open dialogs and expose those viewing/hearing/reading it to a different way of thinking about whatever topic is being presented. To me, Mollena’s fantasy did just that.
For those in our community who think titleholders are unnecessary or have little to nothing of substance to add to our community, I challenge you to look at the work Mollena has done within, as well as oustide of, our community prior to earning either of her titles and honestly say that. Mollena is one of many many talented, passionate, inspiring people stepping up and out for our community. The future of our leather community is in capable hands. Support her and all those like her as they step up to challenge of representing us…who we really are, what we do…to the world.
I have had the pleasure of getting to know Mollena over the past year and am so very fortunate to be able to count such an amazing person among my friends, absolutely proud to call her family. Mollena, I wish you all the best in your International Ms Leather title year. Just do you and the rest will take care of itself.
